Since 1976, M4TF students have organized and sponsored annual May 3-4 commemoration events featuring prominent speakers, musicians and poets.

Annual commemoration events on the KSU Commons are free & open to the public.

Starting in 1976 with our theme “The Truth Demands Justice”, M4TF students annually choose a theme slogan as a commemorative focus of our activities. Annually, we print new posters, buttons and t-shirts promoting our theme which we generally announce months before each May 4 commemoration.

In addition to an annual focus upon May 4, 1970-related issues, of course, we welcome and expect timely commentary linking 1970 with modern issues each year. Therefore, during times of newer, controversial wars such as the Persian Gulf War of 1991 or the Iraq War since 2003, anti-war commentaries comparing Vietnam and modern wars are inevitable.

We respect all First Amendment rights guaranteed by the US Constitution especially Freedom of Speech because that was the central violation of student rights at KSU on May 4, 1970.
